Here are updates on DDOT’s Connecticut Avenue project from the DDOT - Department of Transportation.

DDOT has assembled proposed improvements to several Connecticut Avenue intersections to improve safety. These are included in Notices of Intent (NOI) that were sent to ANCs along the corridor. The NOI documents for each ANC are here:

The comment period for these NOIs is open until Monday, May 4, 2026. To leave comments, please visit DDOT’s NOI portal at https://noi.ddot.dc.gov

DDOT has attended recent meetings with ANC 3/4G and ANC 3C’s Transportation Committee to answer questions about the NOIs, and will attend ANC 3F’s meeting next week.

For more information on the project, please visit the project website.

Three In-Person Candidate Forums April 7, 8, and 9 at St. John's College High School

    Dear Neighbors:

The Chevy Chase Community Association and the Shepherd Park Citizens Association will be co‑hosting three in‑person District of Columbia candidate forums.

A forum for candidates for Mayor will be held at 7:00 pm on April 7.

A forum for candidates to serve as Delegate to the House of Representatives will be held at 7:00 pm on April 8.

A forum for candidates to serve as At-Large Member of the DC Council will be held at 7:00 pm on April 9.

The forums will be held in the Frana Auditorium at St. John’s College High School, located at 2607 Military Road NW. All candidates certified by the Board of Elections in these three races will be invited to participate in the forums. There will be closed captioning at the forums and the forums will be recorded for those who cannot attend.

Parking is available through the Oregon Avenue entrance, but carpooling is encouraged. St. John’s can be reached by bus on the C81 bus line.

For security purposes, bags may be checked prior to entering the school.

No posters or signs will be allowed inside the school.

The Zoom links are listed under the EVENTS section

And you are invited to participate!

We are collecting questions from our members in advance of the Forums.  The two host associations will review and select the final questions.  We will also distribute 3x5” cards so audience members can write other questions, and we will attempt to ask some of those additional questions if time allows.

Please participate by proposing questions that you would like to ask of your candidates!

When you submit your proposed questions, in addition to the question itself please state to which forum it is directed and the neighborhood in which you live. Please send your questions to President@cccadc.org

For example: for Mayor, Do you think we should be surplusing government owned property to encourage private companies to build affordable housing in mixed use building? (Chevy Chase)

We hope you will join us to hear what the candidates have to say as we learn their positions on issues important to the city.  Snacks will be served.

    Snow Service for Bus Routes

Here are two WMATA pages that will help residents find current bus information during snow times:

Critical bus routes that will continue to operate during severe winter weather:

    https://wmata.com/about/news/Metro-announces-critical-bus-routes-that-will-continue-to-operate-during-severe-winter-weather.cfm

In our area, that means Lines D70 (Connecticut Avenue) and D80 (Wisconsin Avenue).

For the operating status of each line in the Metrobus system:

    https://www.wmata.com/snow

Note that "Regular Service" means Sunday frequency.

In addition to Lines D70 and D80, this page shows Line C81 (Ft Totten to Sibley Hospital) operating as well.

Week of January 26, (Line D90 (Tenleytown to Mt. Vernon) is running, but only via Nebraska and Mass. Avenues, *not* running on New Mexico Avenue.)
