    Upcoming DC Primary Candidate Forums

In advance of the upcoming District of Columbia primary elections, the Chevy Chase Community Association will host a series of candidate forums to give residents the opportunity to hear directly from candidates and learn more about their priorities and plans for the District.

At this time, declared candidates include:
    • Non-Voting Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives – 7 declared candidates, including the incumbent.
    • Mayor of the District of Columbia – 6 declared candidates.
    • DC Council (multiple seats) – Competitive races with multiple declared candidates for Ward 1, Ward 6, and At-Large Council positions.
(Additional candidates may declare prior to the filing deadline.)

The candidate forums will provide an opportunity for community members to hear from candidates, ask questions, and engage in informed civic dialogue on issues impacting Chevy Chase and the District as a whole. Dates, times, and formats for the forums are currently being finalized. Please stay tuned for additional details in upcoming CCCA communications.

Are you curious about how our neighborhood looked in 1976?

The family of Robert Wrin, a past president of the CCCA, who recently passed away,  gave us a copy of "Footsteps: Historical Walking Tours of Chevy Chase, Cleveland Park, Tenleytown and Friendship Heights". The book contains neighborhood histories, photos,  and detailed walking tours.

A pdf version of the booklet appears below.

Online bus network feedback form, "Ask FoBus" office hours, travel training, and more:

The Friends of Bus Transit (FoBus) is launching two initiatives and announcing an event :

(* You may want to consider having the travel training with GoDCGo have a separate headline.)

First is a community feedback form on the new bus network to learn:

    • what's working for you?
    • what's not working?
    • what could be improved?
The form will take about 5 to 10 minutes to fill out, depending on the level of detail you provide. They will be collating the feedback that community members provide through this form and produce a summary of the primary issues that WMATA needs to address. Information will be collected through the end of October.

Second, FoBus will be holding weekly open Zoom sessions to hear from residents with questions or concerns about the new bus network. The next "Ask FoBus" session (hosted by local bus expert and long-time bus rider Cal Simone), will be on Wednesday, October 29, from 7:30-8:30 pm.

Additionally, a resource page has also been created that includes: a list of bus stops in Chevy Chase DC, Tenleytown, and Friendship Heights; school hour bus times for Deal MS, Jackson-Reed HS, and MacArthur HG; and dates for future "Ask FoBus" Zoom sessions.  More information will be posted there as it becomes available.

FoBus can be reached directly via email.

For Parents and students - New bus trips to/from Deal, Jackson-Reed, MacArthur

Greetings, parents and students of Deal MS, Jackson-Reed HS, and MacArthur HS,

There are new school-day-only trips that have been added to avoid overcrowding.  An example of this:  New C85 trips leaving Tenleytown station to Pinehurst Circle at 3:35 and 3:40 pm.  (The first trip had previous been at 3:58 pm.)

This info can be viewed on the FoBus (Friends of Bus Transit) Wiki:

    https://groups.io/g/FoBus/wiki

Choose "School hour bus times" from the "Pages" drop down menu.

The new additional trip times are indicated in green .

These additional trips may not complete their full routes, instead running only to/from the schools.
